Media & Journalism

  • Inside Energy – A collaborative journalism initiative of partners across the US and supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The mission of Inside Energy, in collaboration with its partner stations, is to create a more informed public on energy issues. We seek to make energy issues a household topic and to inspire community conversations on the topic of energy. We strive to create a deeper understanding and appreciation of how energy is a part of every aspect of our modern life and how our choices in energy consumption impact the world around us. To this end, Inside Energy uses data and investigative reporting techniques to produce intelligent and approachable stories on how we make energy, move energy and use energy; stories that meet the highest standards of public service in journalism.
  • StateImpact Pennsylvania – Energy. Environment. Economy.  StateImpact Pennsylvania is a collaboration between WITF and WHYY. Reporters Marie Cusick and Susan Phillips cover the fiscal and environmental impact of Pennsylvania’s booming energy economy, with a focus on Marcellus Shale drilling. Read their reports on this site, and hear them on public radio stations across Pennsylvania. This collaborative project is funded, in part, through grants from the Heinz Endowments and William Penn Foundation.

  • Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration – PHMSA’s mission is to protect people and the environment by advancing the safe transportation of energy and other hazardous materials that are essential to our daily lives. To do this, the agency establishes national policy, sets and enforces standards, educates, and conducts research to prevent incidents. We also prepare the public and first responders to reduce consequences if an incident does occur.
